I know I want to learn

On June 9th, a pivotal validation workshop for the Yem Language Documentation and Digitization project was held at the Yem Zone Administration in Saja, under the leadership of Yem Zone Administrator Mr. Shimelesh Ijigu. The workshop marked an important step in refining the efforts to preserve and digitize the Yem language.

The reviewers, Mr. Demeke and Mr. Mengistu Teshoma, conducted a thorough review of the documentation. They meticulously examined the materials and presented their valuable comments and suggestions, aimed at enhancing the overall quality and accuracy of the project. Their insights were instrumental in identifying areas for improvement.

In response to the reviewers’ feedback, the project initiators—Dr. K. Sekhar, Mr. Eyasu Tilahun, and Mr. Habtemariam Amare—along with Yem language translators and editors, actively engaged in discussions. They carefully considered the reviewers’ comments and incorporated the suggested changes into the documentation. This collaborative effort ensured that the final product would be a comprehensive and reliable resource for the Yem language.

The workshop demonstrated a strong commitment to linguistic and cultural preservation, highlighting the dedication of all involved parties to produce a high-quality digital archive of the Yem language. The incorporation of expert feedback further solidifies the project’s aim to serve as a valuable tool for future linguistic research and cultural heritage preservation.
